It is ridiculous to not know the great litterateurs of the land you belong to, I tell you. It is shameful and outright ignoble if you don’t know who is responsible for lending fame and recognition to the land whose cereals you feed on. My stupidity knew no bounds when I thought L S Sheshagiri Rao was a violinist, just as my exhilaration knew no bounds, when I learnt who he actually was! The great, great, great grand old man (he is almost 90 now) who studied English under the late centenarian VK Gokak and taught English to my septuagenarian school Principal wishes to see the language policy implemented. I, a two decadenarian and a half was to instigate a chat with this giant of a man. See, I accept that most people take me for a music fanatic and that I don’t usually think beyond it (I agree too) but when the uninitiated want me to expand my horizon and when they strip me off my horse vision, I take myself by such impossible surprise, My oh my! @#$%! Owww! Dare I talk irreverence when language is in question? Kindly note its not just irreverence to language, the language of my irreverence is in question too. Psychologists swear that one imbibes expletives quicker than the grammar of a language. Would that happen to children aged between 6-9 years too, given that in this generation, exposure to superlatives of a language is not determined by age? Ok, some of you want to frown and correct my skewed perception of the language policy. Now, now, don’t take it too literally, it’s only literary!
